Various Links of Interest

There are more interesting sites on the internet than any one person could ever see, with more popping up every second. Here is a list of links to our favorite sites, ones that we have found to be of especial interest for various reasons–from art, to decorations, to supplies, to information…

  • Etsy ( This site is crafter’s heaven! You can buy any craft-related thing here, from completed items to raw materials for crafting, from artists located all over the world.  It’s not specifically for pets, but there’s a lot of cat-related items.  Many of the artists do special commissions.  You can purchase anything from personalized jewelry made with your cat’s picture, pet memorial markers, hand-crafted collars and harnesses, all kinds of cat furniture, feeding bowls…if you can think of it, it’s likely offered on Etsy!
  • ( <–Our page on the site.) A website full of member-submitted artwork–both original and fan-art, in many, many mediums from line art, paintings, digital work, photographs, jewelry, sculptures, and more. There is a great deal of professional-level art there! We’ve found some absolutely lovely artwork showcasing all kinds of cats. The site is of special interest to us, because people can choose to allow viewers to buy prints of any posted artwork, in several different forms–from postcards to posters to fine art prints and even wrapped canvases, to t-shirts and caps and other items such as mouse pads, coasters, mugs, calendars, and even puzzles. The artist earns a percentage off each sale’s profit–you can follow the links to see their standard pricings. It’s possible to post your favorite pictures of your feline friend(s) there, enable the selling option, and then buy a print or t-shirt or mug or whatever from yourself with the artist’s discount. It’s a very interesting site, and has a lot of member-posted tutorials and stock images and art references for aspiring artists of all types. There is a default adult content filter, that you can opt to disable if you sign up for your own account. The basic membership is free; the paid memberships allow artists to set higher prices on their works to get more profit (deviantART’s portion remains the same), and allows you to see more images at once, as well as giving more options in designing your member page.
  • Cornell University ( This is a very reputable veterinarian university that can help you discover information about various medical concerns you might have about your cat. As behaviorists, we are not fully trained veterinarians, which is why we always direct people to have their veterinarian check their cat over when problems come up that could have physical origins.
  • CatNip Magazine ( is put out by Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine (, a very reputable veterinary school like Cornell. Their summary of the magazine is as follows: The monthly report for caring cat owners from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. CATNIP contains information on diet and nutrition, health guidance plus product safety and value. CATNIP does not accept commercial advertising.
  • CatWatch Magazine ( We’re rather fond of this publication. Here’s their summary: “The newsletter for cat people, CatWatch is packed with practical advice in feline health, well-being and behavior. Because CatWatch accepts no advertising, you‘ll get unbiased evaluations of the products and services which affect your cat’s health and longevity.
  • ASPCA ( The home page for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
  • Humane Society ( The home page of the Humane Society of the United States.
  • Wise Food Storage (  Wise Company has specialized food kits perfect for camping and hiking, or for unplanned emergencies.  They offer dehydrated and freeze-dried food items that are designed to last for up to 25 years, and they use only healthy, high-quality ingredients in their entrees and snacks.  It’s advisable for homeowners to store at least three-days of food in case of an emergency–tornado, hurricane, blizzard, etc.  They offer a free sample; we tried it, and the beef Stroganoff at least is really not bad.
